- Up to 1998 - Laboratory Manager at British Sugar, York factory. In addition,
- Trained as a quality auditor (Bywater training) in 1990
- Senior Quality Auditor for York factory ISO9001 from 1991 until 1998.
- Auditor trainer for British Sugar and British Sugar Overseas (BSO)
- British Sugar corporate HACCP team leader
- June 1997 - technical paper presented to the European Sugar Industry conference entitled "Integration of HACCP into a quality management system"
